NEW YORK, NEW YORK: As the Time Warner vs CBS fee dispute war rages on, Time Warner subscribers are well into nearly day 3 without CBS in their daily channel line-up. The dispute, which is apparently over retransmission fees (often companies have to pay these to broadcasters) has left some 3million Time Warner customers across the country without the popular T.V station available for viewing in their homes.
Since the dawn of time, Time Warner has been a staunch protester of retransmission fees.
CBS doesn’t exactly have any interesting shows lined up for Fall’s T.V season, except for the P.G.A Golf Tour and the N.F.L Season which kicks off later this year. The golf tourney kicks off next week, and that alone, is sure to set fire to most male sports fans who were hoping to catch the tournament after work.
CBS argues that their demands for higher fees per subscriber are ‘completely reasonable’ while Time Warner says they aren’t. Analysts were quick to point out that CBS is demanding an almost 100% raise in fees, from $1 per subscriber to $2.
A spokesperson for the Federal Communications Commission wasn’t too happy that neither of the companies could reach a deal.
“We urge all parties involved to resolve this situation as soon as possible.” wrote the FCC in a statement.
